About us
Experts in cheese ripening since 1989
Our company’s founder is Enzo Torelli who established Magazzini Generali Torelli in 1989 with the help of his sons, Maurizio and Alberto. They built a warehouse in Parma where we have been storing wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano, and hard cheese of Italian and foreign origin. In 2002, following the updating of the legislation on DOP, DOC, and IGP products, we opened a new plant in Fiorenzuola d’Arda where we have been mainly dealing with the ripening of Grana Padano DOP.
In 2012, we arranged structural reinforcement measures for both buildings, thus obtaining protection against earthquakes. In 2021, we equipped ourselves with induction machinery to mark cheese wheels suitable for certification, thus limiting the use of open flame. This system brings us significant benefits, among which greater protection of our personnel’s health and fire risk reduction.
Opening of the Parma plant
Following an idea of the founder Enzo Torelli, a warehouse was built in Parma where we started our business based on the ripening of Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano, and Italian and foreign hard cheese.
Opening of the Fiorenzuola d'Arda plant
After the updating of the legislation on DOP, DOC, and IGP products, we decided to establish a new warehouse in Fiorenzuola d’Arda. In this facility we have been mainly dealing with the maturation of Grana Padano DOP.
Warehouses’ seismic retrofit
We carried out specific interventions aimed at reinforcing the structure of our buildings and indoor racks. Thanks to these renovation works, we obtained protection against earthquakes for both locations.
Adoption of new marking machinery
In order to safeguard our personnel and warehouses’ safety, we decided to cease using a fire marking system. As a consequence, we implemented induction equipment to mark cheese wheels.
